The restriction sites were used to analyze the recombinants (data not shown). (B) The targeting vector, generated on the long arm of Elovl4 with a 5 bp-deletion (AACTT) and a Neo gene cassette flanked by loxP sites. (C) The Neo gene cassette with the 5-bpdeletion mutation were introduced in exon 6. N7 and N1 are the forward and reverse primer sequences designed to read from the selection cassette into the short arm (N1) and the long arm (N7). Forward (F) and reverse (R) primers were used to confirm the homologous recombination.
