Cover: Immunofluorescence microscopy demonstrating that antibodies to the membrane-associated mucin MUC16 (green) and to a carbohydrate epitope, designated H185 (red), co-localize (yellow) on the same section to apical cells of the human corneal epithelium. Nuclei of cells in the section are visualized with DAPI (blue). These data as well as co-immunoprecipitation data indicate that MUC16 on ocular surface epithelia carries the H185 epitope (see Argueso et al. on page 2487 of this issue). The distribution of H185 antibody binding has been deimonstrated to be altered on ocular surface epithelia of patients with non-Sjogren dry eye.
