Cover: Pseudocolor fluorescence images of a cultured rat retinal ganglion cell, loaded with fura-2 calcium indicator dye, before (top row) and after (bottom row) stimulation with glutamate. Fluorescence following excitation at 340 nm (two left images) and 380 nm (two middle images) is used to calculate the fura-2 ratio (two right images) to determine intracellular calcium levels.
