IOVS Online SUBSCRIBER HELP & SERVICES:
Frequently Asked Questions about Member Subscriptions
  1. Will I receive a password? May I share my password with friends, or is use limited solely to me?

During the activation process, you will select a user name and password. You are the only one licensed to use this login.

  2. What if I forget my user name and password?

Click here to request a randomly generated password.

  3. Why should I get a member subscription to IOVS Online?

    Member Subscribers have access to:
tables of contents, abstracts, full text searching, full articles, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline and GenBank, interjournal links to other HighWire Press journals, and the advantage of having password access to IOVS Online from any computer connected to the Internet.
    [Ordering Procedure] [Cost] [ARVO Membership]

Without a subscription you have access to tables of contents, abstracts, and full text searching at no cost and without having to register.

  4. How can I tell if my institution has subscribed? How do I get my institution to subscribe?

If your institution owns a paper subscription, electronic access to the online journal is also available. After your institution activates the online access, you will automatically have access to all the content and features of IOVS Online without the need to login.

If your institution does not own a subscription to IOVS, it will not have full access to the online version of Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science.

  5. Will I still be able to get the paper version? And for how long?

Yes, individuals and institutions will continue to be able to receive the paper version for the foreseeable future.

  6. Who is eligible for a Member Subscription?

ARVO Members are eligible for Member Subscriptions to IOVS, providing them with a paper and electronic version of the journal. Members may also have access to IOVS Online through an Institutional Subscription. Institutional Subscriptions are somewhat more limited than Member Subscriptions. The special member services are not available to non-member subscribers, and full-text access from off of the institution's network (e.g. home access) is not available. ARVO Members are the only individuals who can receive an electronic-only subscription to IOVS Online.

  7. How can I access the online journal if I am not an ARVO member and I don't have access through an institutional subscription?

You may wish to apply for ARVO membership or you may wish to purchase an Individual (Non-Member) print subscription which provides access to the electronic version. Without a subscription you have access to tables of contents, abstracts and searching at no cost and without having to register, but you will not be able to view complete articles or download PDFs.

  8. How do I become a member of ARVO?

Information about ARVO Membership and application forms are available from the ARVO site.
